Dr. Nazir Yosufi is a research and teaching professional in global governance, international development, and diplomacy. He has a PhD in International Relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), India, where his area of studies was devoted to the external policies of the European Union, and the mechanisms of development and multilateral cooperation. He also has graduate and undergraduate studies in business administration, providing him with a unique and integrated approach to international business, creativity and well-designed policies.
Dr. Yosufi studies the design and effects of foreign aid, especially the development and approaches to aid engagement of the European states and of Germany in the context of Afghanistan. Some of his areas of focus are how to evaluate the outcome of aid, consolidate the donor community, and develop and implement strategies to recover and restore order in a society that has been in crisis for a long time. His PhD thesis shows his commitment to analyzing international development European community aid to Afghanistan over a span of almost twenty years. Other areas of research are processes of building peace, borderless cooperation and the roles of international organizations in weak and conflict-ridden states.
A familiar figure in technical and policymaking circles, Dr. Yosufi has made significant contributions to the body of literature in the form of research papers and practitioner reports. He has disseminated his research to a range of global forums and academic panels, contributing to debates on the dynamics of global development, academic research on Afghanistan, and the changing character of interstate cooperation. In the field of transdisciplinary scholarship, he has conducted lectures, designed a Pashto language guide, and authored books and articles to stimulate and nurture the imagination of the youth, fostering understanding and appreciation of different civilizations.
Dr. Yosufi brings a strong research-led instructional and high-level organizational skill to the EAAS. He has designed and taught courses at the university level on the history and culture of Afghanistan, and has been actively engaged in the development of syllabi and academic coordination. As a teacher, he encourages evaluative thinking, transdisciplinary learning, and the application of theoretical constructs to actual situations in the global arena.
Since he has been making learning interventions in the form of managing global events and maintaining deep relationships with a variety of international actors, Dr. Yosufi has the skills to create a highly engaging educational environment. His previous employment demonstrates his determination to widen the scope of intellectual activity, nurture respectful intercultural interaction, and equip young professionals with the skills to understand and engage with the complexities of global and developmental challenges.
